Music and Choral singing play a very important part in the life of Loreto Secondary school and contributes to the social, emotional and spiritual development of each student. The school choir was formed in 1992 and is now under the direction of Tim Fouhy, Deirdre Foley and Sr. Nuala Reidy.

It aims to gives girls from 14 to 18 years of age the experience of singing at the highest standard. Typically, each girl spends five years in the choir. Auditions are held annually and the majority of new entrants come from 2nd year, after a year of vocal preparation in the 1st year choir. The repertoire is broadly based to give a musical education that supports and extends the girls’ individual musicianship.  The students participate in choir on a voluntary basis.

The choir has won many awards both in Ireland and abroad. They achieved second place in the Youth Choir Competition in 2010 at the North Wales Choral Festival and in 2011 they won the Association of Irish Choirs Trophy in the National Competition for Schools at the Cork International Choral Festival.

The Choir competed on Friday October 25th in the Regional Final of the All Island School Choir Competition.
